Are There Families Who Host Students For Free? ?
Posted by: the_boz : Category: Free Hosting
I live in France, and want to graduate in Canada or in the States. Is there any way for me to live for free in a host-family? I receive pocket-money to buy clothes and other stuff ( for school , … ) monthly from my parents. Unfortunately they aren’t able to offer me a classical ‘ student-exchange’.
Please help me !

All of us who host exchange students do it for free — at least the high school students. No host families are paid. For college students, it’s different, more of a boarding school type situation.
However, that’s not your big problem. If you are in high school you would have a very difficult time — if not impossible — coming to the U.S. to study. First, you’d need to find a family on your own – not a good idea, and the Internet is certainly NOT the place to do it. Then you’d have to get an F1 visa, difficult as an high schooler and it requires proof of finances (around $25.000). Finally, the high school would have to accept you and most ONLY accept exchange students who come through recognized CSIET (www.csiet.org) programs.
If money is a big problem, try Rotary exchange. It’s the cheapest, and one of the best. http://www.rotary.org/en/StudentsAndYout…
Good luck!
